For children under 6 with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of ADHD, American Academy of Pediatrics clinical guidelines strongly recommends Parent Training in Behavior Management (PTBM). This may include PCIT or parent-only sessions.
For children ages 6-12, AAP strongly recommends a combination of medication and parent training in behavior management (PTBM).

This is a 5-session course for parents of children (grades K - 6) who have been diagnosed with ADHD. Topics include understanding ADHD and executive functioning, regulating big emotions, helping with routines, organization, and an introduction to parent training in behavioral management.

School intervention and accomodations are a really important part of your child’s successful journey with ADHD. If your child’s school is open to collaboration, Dr. Bayer can collaborate with teachers to help improve classroom behavior or may be able to observe your child in their classroom to make additional recommendations.
